Parco Bags donated to the MES Johannesburg Programme
MES is an organisation whose Christian-valued mission is to empower people holistically to live independent, sustainable and meaningful lives wherever they go.
Their branches are in Gauteng, the Northern Cape as well as the Eastern Cape.
The MES Organisation over the country is involved with events such as:
- WALK THE TALK 702
- CHARITY GOLF DAYS
- 947 MOUNTAIN BIKING AND CYCLE CHALLENGE
- CITY CHRISTMAS SERENADE
- WOMEN’S & MOTHER’S DAY HIGH TEA
- AMAZING GRACE RACE
- EXCHAINS OUTREACHES & OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES
- CEO’s ON STREET CORNERS
- MUSICAL STAGE PRODUCTIONS
- and much more…
Their programmes and services include:
By building relationships and trust within the community, they focus on poverty alleviation, which include social relief as well as outreaches.
Their programmes enable communities to have access to supportive and spiritual care.
- Residential Care:
Providing safe accommodation to the homeless in overnight shelters, especially during winter months. MES also supports students, who are forced to live on the streets, by giving them accommodation during their Skills Development Programme. Because of this vulnerable students are more likely to successfully complete their training programmes.
- GROW (God Restores Our World):
GROW Job Rehabilitation Project provides clients an opportunity to participate in social development and job rehabilitation activities that include cleaning services, weeding, storm water drain cleaning, graffiti removal and other services required by the immediate community too. GROW instils pride and uplifts these clients with hope for a better future, as well as keeps clients from begging or turning to criminal behaviour.
- Youth Enrichment Programme:
Offering a safe haven to the children of Johannesburg by establishing a spirit of belonging, independence and generosity through spiritual, social, academic and art programmes. This helps them not to fall victim to their circumstances influenced by drugs, sex, and crime. They encourage the vulnerable youth to become volunteers at after school centres or holiday programmes, as well as young leaders in other enrichment activities.
- SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
- EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
- SOCIAL WORK SERVICES
- PROFESSIONAL HEALTH SERVICES
The MES Organisation of Johannesburg will be taking part in the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge on 13 November 2016 to raise funds and also create exposure for MES. MES has signed up over 40 Cyclists so far to ride for the MES cause. Parco Bags proudly sponsored 3 Lee Cooper Backpacks for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners from the MES Organisation.
The photo above in this blogpost features one of the MES drivers, Mr Livingstone, with whom we had an inspiring conversation with when he collected the backpacks donated by Parco Bags. It was such a heartwarming privilege being able to share in Mr Livingstone’s passion for the MES cause.
A note from Precious Mbele, Resource Developer at MES Johannesburg, about Livingstone:
Livingstone has been in service of MES for many years. Our drivers have enormous responsibilities. They do not only deliver and pick up donations but also transport our children, youth, the sick and elderly to various venues as needed. We are proud to hear that Livingstone is going beyond the call of duty, sharing his MES passion with others around him. At MES we know all positions are important and each staff member is a part of the bigger picture.
